Flowers in the Dirt is the tenth release in the Paul McCartney Archive Collection.

Flowers in the Dirt is the tenth release in the Paul McCartney Archive Collection. The multi-disc edition of the 1989 album will be released on March 24.

Flowers in the Dirt was the eighth solo album from McCartney and was seen as a return to quality after a number of less than stellar releases. Four of the tracks on the album were co-written with Elvis Costello (listed under his real name, Declan MacManus) who also sang with Paul on the track You Want Her, Too. Also appearing on the album was David Gilmour on the track We Got Married.

The album went to number 1 on the U.K. Albums chart, 18 in Australia and 21 in the U.S.

The original 13-track album was remastered at Abbey Road Studios. Added for the deluxe edition are 18 tracks across two discs with demos for the album. Paul said “The demos are red hot off the skillet and that’s why we wanted to include them on this boxed set. What’s great about these songs is that they’ve just been written. So there’s nothing more hot off the skillet as I say. So that was the kind of great instant thing about them. I hadn’t listened to them in ages but when I did I knew we had to put them out. We made a little tape of them and sent them to Elvis, who loved them too. We said we should put out an EP or something and now the moment’s finally arrived.”

Singer and poet Leonard Cohen has died, aged 82.

Singer and poet Leonard Cohen has died, aged 82.

The sad news, reported on the Bird on a Wire singer’s Facebook page, comes just weeks after the beloved Canadian star told the New Yorker magazine he was "ready to die" in an interview.

He told the publication, "I don’t think I’ll be able to finish those songs (I’m working on). Maybe, who knows? And maybe I’ll get a second wind, I don’t know. But I don’t dare attach myself to a spiritual strategy. I don’t dare do that.

"I’ve got some work to do. Take care of business. I am ready to die. I hope it’s not too uncomfortable. That’s about it for me."

Cohen clarified his remarks days later, while promoting his new album You Want It Darker, explaining he was speaking philosophically.

The Everybody Knows singer hosted a listening session for his new album in Los Angeles on 13 October (16) and addressed reports he was dying, stating, "I said I was ready to die recently and I think I was exaggerating. I’ve always been into self-dramatisation. I intend to live forever."

A post on his Facebook page on Thursday evening (10Nov16) reads: "It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries."

There were no details about the cause of Cohen’s death. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date, according to the announcement.

The Montreal-born singer, who was dubbed "the high priest of pathos" was a singer, songwriter, poet and legendary ladies man. His hits also included Suzanne, I’m Your Man, and Hallelujah. You Want It Darker was his 14th album.

Bruno Mars brands Adele a "diva with attitude"

Bruno Mars has labelled collaborator Adele a "diva with attitude".

The pair teamed up on song All I Ask for Adele’s most recent album 25. While the tune was a hit with fans, Bruno opened up about the challenging recording process during an interview on WTKU radio show Cubby and Carolina in the Morning on Tuesday (25Oct16).

“She walks into the studio, she’s got all this attitude, she’s a diva, she’s like, ‘I don’t want to do this. I don’t like that,’” Bruno shared. “And then as soon as we hit a couple chords that she liked, we started rolling, and that’s where we got that song from."

Bruno was quick to clarify his comments, insisting that working with the 28-year-old singer was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“She was singing in the booth and I’m not exaggerating at all, and the water was vibrating – like that scene in Jurassic Park,” he gushed. "She’s got some pipes on her, and she’s just a superstar."

As well as being a successful singer in his own right, Bruno has written a huge amount of songs for his peers – including CeeLo Green’s F**k (Forget) You and Justin Bieber’s Love Me.

He may have joined forces with some of the music industry’s biggest names but there are still some stars he would like to team up with in the future.

“I haven’t done a song with Beyonce,” he mused, before revealing Rihanna and Britney Spears as dream duet partners, adding: "Anyone who wants to work, come on down!"

One of the first times Adele performed All I Ask was during a taped concert in New York in December (15). However, she struggled to sing the track to her usual standard, telling the audience the recent surgery on her vocal cords had altered her vocal range.

"It is, it’s f***ing, it’s really hard to sing. I had vocal surgery and then suddenly I could sing higher, I could sing lower, I could do whatever you wanted me to do," she said. "As soon as I’m in front of you lot, I just f**k myself."

Pop star Bruno Mars will ring in 2017 in Las Vegas as part of a new residency deal.

The Uptown Funk hitmaker has signed a partnership with bosses at MGM Resorts International for a series of concerts at their venues over the next two years, and he’ll kick off his exclusive deal by performing at Maryland’s MGM National Harbor on 27 December (16), days after the venue’s grand opening.

He will then stage a pair of shows at the new Park Theater at the Monte Carlo hotel and casino in Sin City on 30 and 31 December (16), and return in March (17) for a string of dates.

"Bruno is among the most talented performers in the world and we are excited to start a long-term relationship with him across our industry-leading portfolio of entertainment venues," Bill Hornbuckle, president of MGM Resorts International, writes in a statement issued to Entertainment Tonight.

"There is no stronger launching pad for a new venue than for Bruno Mars to be among the first to grace its stage, and we get to do it twice, an amazing beginning to a multi-year partnership."

Although Bruno’s concert deal won’t be a traditional residency, he joins the likes of Celine Dion, Britney Spears, and Jennifer Lopez, who have all become Vegas regulars in recent years.

The news emerges three days after Bruno debuted the video for his new single 24K Magic, and announced plans to release an album of the same name on 18 November (16).

It will be Bruno’s third studio album, the follow-up to 2012’s Unorthodox Jukebox.

Singer Michael Buble is set to showcase his new music in a hour-long TV special in November

Singer Michael Buble is set to showcase his new music in a hour-long TV special in November (16).

The Haven’t Met You Yet is gearing up to release his ninth album Nobody but Me in October (16) and he will fly over to the U.K. to record a 60-minute "entertainment spectacular" in front of a live audience the same month, ahead of its TV broadcast in November (16).

Michael Buble at the BBC will mark the first time he has performed songs from the album in the U.K. and he will be accompanied by his band and a 30-plus piece orchestra at the studio in Salford, England. He will also perform classic hits and sit down for a chat about music, much like the 2015 TV special, Adele at the BBC.

“I loved Adele at the BBC and I’m so excited and honoured to have been invited by the BBC to do my own show for them," he said in a statement. "I’m sure it will be a blast.”

“When you are asked ‘would you like to interview Michael Buble and watch him sing?’ you don’t say no," presenter Claudia Winkleman joked. "You change your whole life to accommodate this request. I can’t wait."

It is likely Michael will also take part a sketch, much like Adele did last year. In the skit, which went viral, Adele auditions with a host of Adele impersonators, who are trying to land a job performing as the star. She donned a fake nose and chin to go undercover but her fellow auditionees soon realised who she was when she began to sing.

The one-off show also landed a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Entertainment Programme in March (16) but lost out to reality show Strictly Come Dancing.

Zayn Malik baffled Bella Hadid when they first met

Zayn Malik baffled Bella Hadid when they first met, because she couldn’t understand his accent.

The former One Direction star has been dating Bella’s model sister Gigi on and off since November (15). However, one thing that Bella has been struggling with since her sibling paired up with the singer is getting to grips with his way of speaking. Zayn is from the Northern town of Bradford in England, and consequently has a strong Northern accent.

"At the beginning I didn’t understand a lot of what he was saying and would just go ‘Oh that’s funny’ and nod along. But I’m slowly getting there," Bella told Britain’s The Sun newspaper.

In an attempt to win Bella over, the Pillowtalk singer has even been attempting to teach her some local slang from his hometown. But Bella admits it’s not going too well.

"He has been trying to teach me the northern lingo, he just speaks the way he speaks and that’s it, I guess," she smiled.

Zayn played the role of supportive boyfriend as he attended the Tom Ford New York Fashion Week show on Wednesday night (07Sep16) to support girlfriend Gigi, who was walking in the presentation.

The 23-year-old looked dapper wearing a double-breasted black suit over a black roll neck top, teamed with a full beard and artfully styled quiff.

While Zayn looked in good spirits for the occasion, he has been struggling in recent months to manage his overwhelming levels of anxiety.

Earlier this week (ends11Sep16), the handsome singer pulled out of a scheduled gig in the United Arab Emirates on 7 October (16), saying that despite his attempts to combat the condition, he doesn’t feel performance ready yet.

“I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances,” he said in a statement. “I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October.”

His decision came after he pulled out of the Summertime Ball in London earlier this year (16) for the same reasons.

Prince reportedly worked for six days without any sleep prior to his death.

Prince reportedly worked for six days without any sleep prior to his death.

The singer died aged 57 at his home in Minnesota on Thursday (21Apr16). Since his untimely passing, there have been numerous reports of what may have contributed to his death, including reports he overdosed on painkiller Percocet, which he was allegedly taking for hip issues.

However, Prince’s brother-in-law Maurice Phillips has come forward to admit the singer had been awake for a staggering six days straight before his passing.

According to the Press Association, Phillips, who is married to Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson, told fans outside the singer’s Paisley Park complex: "He worked 154 hours straight. I was with him just last weekend. He was a good brother-in-law."

Prince’s former manager Kerry Gordon has since spoken about Phillips’ allegations. While the singer had built up a tolerance to sleep deprivation, Gordon thinks six days of being awake could have been a "contributing factor" to Prince’s death.

"Prince wasn’t normal like the regular person, he could function on a lot less sleep than most people," Gordon told television show Good Morning Britain on Monday (25Apr16). "And we would go, you know, three days sometimes without him getting any sleep. But I do think six days without sleep is unusual and that could be a contributing factor."

One of Prince’s last public appearances came when he visited the Electric Fetus record shop in Minneapolis just five days before his death.

His trip to the store came just hours after his plane had an emergency landing on the Friday night (15Apr16). At the time, Prince’s team said it was due to "flu symptoms" but it has since been alleged that it was the Percocet overdose that caused the singer’s hospital dash.

Max Timander, who works at the store, said his fellow employees had told him the singer didn’t look in "the best shape" during the outing on the Saturday (16Apr16).

Timander told the Press Association: "Everyone I’ve talked to on that Saturday said he looked kind of pale and he was not totally looking in the best shape as he normally is.

"It sounded like he was looking kind of weak. I know he had just got over the flu supposedly."

Timander added that the final six records purchased by Prince during his trip to Electric Fetus were Talking Book by Stevie Wonder, The Time Has Come by The Chambers Brothers, Hejira by Joni Mitchell, Inspirational Gospel Classics by Swan Silvertones, The Best Of Missing Persons and Santana IV by Santana.

Following Prince’s death, sales of his work have understandably increased dramatically. Two of his albums, The Very Best of Prince and the soundtrack for his movie Purple Rain, took the number one and number two spots respectively on the Billboard 200 Albums chart this weekend (23-24Apr16).

Another of his albums, The Hits/The B-Sides, featured in sixth position on the chart.

According to Billboard, if they look at the week ending April 21, Prince’s overall album catalogue sold an incredible 256,000 copies – an increase of 5,298 per cent compared to just 5,000 units the previous week.

Plugging music news – Lady Ga Ga likes Bieber !

Lady Gaga thinks Justin Bieber has "a sweetness to him". Both stars were at the Met Gala on Monday, where they hung out and posed for a cute picture. In it, the 29-year-old star shuts here eyes and pouts, while Justin, 21, gazes up at the camera.
He may have been in plenty of legal trouble in the past, but Gaga has nothing but praise for the Baby crooner. "He really has a sweetness to him. He grew up in front of the whole world. I reminded him to not get bothered. Because at the end of the day. He’s the boss, and life isn’t always Roses. Lots of thorns. (sic)," she defended Justin in the caption on Instagram.

Last year was tumultuous for Justin, who was fined for egging his neighbour’s home and caught driving without a licence.
Since then he’s turned over a new leaf, publically apologising to his fans. But he’s also asked others to put themselves in his shoes.

"It’s definitely hard having so many people judge you from a distance. Sometimes you just want to explain yourself but then that’s giving in to gossip and it makes things worse," he recently told Hero magazine. "I hope people felt the sincerity in my apologies.
"There are a lot of things that have happened in the last couple of years that I’m not very proud of and I feel a responsibility to my fans and to the public who believe in me to make it right. I hope everyone believed it ‘ because it was honest."
