87 are an Indie rock band based in San Francisco, USA who are popular on the college Radio circuit.

87 is comprised of Hanako ( Drums/vocals), Nate (Bass) and Patrick Luckett on guitars, vocals, lap steel and keyboards.

87 have played many live shows including at venues like 50 Mason Social House, Music City SF, Elbo Room, Balancoire, Ireland’s 32 and the Make Out Room.

87 got their name from drummer and vocalist Hanako Hanako who says “ 87 represents my name in Japanese. 8 is Hachi and 7 Nana so the first 2 syllables of the numbers are Hana which is short for Hanako”.

87 have been compared to The B52’s and are influenced by artists like Neutral Milk Hotel, Waxahatchee , Daniel Johnston, Dinosaur Jr., Wilco, The Magnetic Fields, The Smiths, John Vanderslice, The Mountain Goats, R.E.M, Pixies and My Bloody Valentine.

The brand new album “Christmas with Mr. Vanderslice” was produced by John Vanderslice and recorded at Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco a popular studio amongst celebrated Indie bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney, Deerhoof, The Dodos and Jolie Holland. The album

The latest single “ You” is taken from the album “Christmas with Mr. Vanderslice” and is out now on all worldwide sites via CD Baby.

87 have worked with legendary engineer Bob Weston who was Steve Albini’s Assistant Engineer on Nirvana’s In Utero album
